Matthew Sweigart
Matthew Sweigart, CI began his bodywork training with the Ohashi Institute in 1985. He went into full–time practice in 1987 and in 1988 founded Ohashiatsu Chicago as the first branch school of the Ohashi Institute. He was a Certified Ohashiatsu Instructor from 1989 through 2003, teaching in Evanston, and at various locations in the United States.
In the late 1990’s Matthew developed the extension program for Ohashiatsu Chicago which brought the Ohashiatsu Chicago curriculum into compliance with NCBTMB national standards. This laid the foundation for the school’s growth, expansion, and eventual evolution under Steve Rogne into Zen Shiatsu Chicago.
Over the years Matthew’s extensive clinical experience and basic Ohashiatsu training has been augmented by study with such teachers as Jeffrey Yuen, Kiiku Matsumoto and Paul Pitchford. Matthew now resides in Northern California where he maintains a private practice and teaches his unique style known as HeartMind Shiatsu.
