Claudia Braun

LMT, Shiatsu and Yoga Instructor

A yoga instructor, and enthusiast since her first class in 1989, Claudia began Living Well Now in 1993. Claudia has been serving the Southeast Evanston community as a Shiatsu practitioner, teacher, corporate presenter for stress management workshops and other organizations since 1993. Also focusing in the recovering community and working with body awareness, particularly eating disorder women.

Finding the right facility to bring Yoga and Shiatsu to the community to offer to a range of clients and students has been a desire of hers for some time. Claudia is interested in bringing like minded individuals together to grow and learn with one another, Living Mindfully Yoga offers her the ability to realize this vision.

Claudia's instructor training is from NU Yoga. Claudia is drawn to the yoga style of Vanda Scaravelli as the model for her teaching. Vanda wrote Awakening the Spine. This style is about moving with greater ease. As we learn to use the support of the ground, we free the spine. From that we are given freedom of movement, and a very organic way of moving. Claudia studied with Diane Long, who studied with Vanda for 23 years before her passing a few years ago.

Yoga has been a transforming and rich complement for her spiritual journey. Teaching in this style of yoga based on Vanda's work has had an amazing ability to open and transform her relationship to her movement and deepen her self-awareness. She enjoys sharing this work with others for its richness and simplicity.
