Zen Shiatsu Chicago Faculty: Arlette Greer

Zen Shiatsu Massage School In Chicago

Arlette Greer

MA, Associate Director, AOBTA CP, LMT

I began my professional life in academia. While a doctoral student at the University of Michigan, I taught psychology and research methodology at both the University and at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, IA. After graduate school I joined a management consulting firm focusing on the healthcare industry. Though my work in both arenas had an impact on patient well-being, the impact was perhaps too indirect.

I wanted to work directly with clients to help them improve their physical and mental health. As I explored options, I learned about Zen Shiatsu. I was intrigued to learn of the therapy’s rich history and rooting in the traditions of Chinese Medicine. Running through the numerous treatment modalities associated with Chinese Medicine are the beliefs that balance is essential to optimal health and that each person has within themselves the ability to promote their own healing.

Convinced of the value of Zen Shiatsu, I completed my training at Zen Shiatsu Chicago and am a Certified Practitioner of Asian Bodywork with AOBTA, practicing in Chicago and Evanston.

My life has changed in wonderful ways since beginning my journey in this field. I am stronger, more flexible (physically and mentally) and fitter than I have been in years. I am passionate about facilitating similar changes for my clients and students.
