Trauma-Informed Practice

A 2-day exploration of trauma

12 CEs

November 2-3

Saturday/Sunday, 9am-4pm

Taught by Raymond Johnson

There’s a huge paradigm shift in psychotherapy happen right now towards body-based approaches to treating PTSD and trauma. Hands-on therapists are needed this specialized work, but a session with an uninformed practitioner can set back a client’s healing process. This 2-day workshop provides an understanding of what trauma is, how trauma and PTSD manifest in the body, how to talk with clients about trauma, and most importantly, how to listen to trauma survivors. We’ll discuss the definition to ‘triggers’, including what to do if they happen during a session. We’ll also cover how to cultivate a “shake practice” to treat symptoms from triggers and injuries and potentially prevent PTSD after a traumatic event. Bodywork techniques will be demonstrated on the table.
