Ethics: Practicing Massage & Bodywork in the COVID Era

Guidelines for Safe Practice

3 CEs

October 10

Saturday 10am-1pm BY ZOOM

Taught by Arlette Greer

Are you frozen in panic about restarting your practice?  Afraid to touch and be touched?  This class will help address your concerns and give you the information you need to be able to make an educated decision about how to resume the practice of massage & bodywork.

We will review the latest information from the CDC and bodywork organizations, and will share what we’ve applied at our clinic to guide safe practice at Zen Shiatsu Chicago.

We will review:

  • Safety setups that minimize the spread of breathed virus particles
  • The latest CDC guidelines for understanding when an individual may or may not be able to spread COVID-19, based on the onset of symptoms or first positive test
  • Respiratory swab tests: when are they useful?  When can they give false negatives or positives?
  • Waivers and front desk management practices
  • How to maintain an easily sanitized work environment
  • Understanding blood clotting disorders associated with COVID-19 and the implications for massage and bodywork contraindications
