Chinese Medicine : ABT Exam Prep

A 12-hour course

4-week course

September 19 - October 10

Sunday 5-8pm

Taught by Lok-Kwan Cheng

Zen Shiatsu grows out of the ancient intellectual traditions of Chinese Medicine, and the practice of acupuncture and herbalism.

In our 96-hour Chinese Medicine curriculum, we do an in-depth study of these traditions, to understand the place of Zen Shiatsu within the greater context of Chinese Medicine and learn to communicate fluently with other professionals in the field.

The study of Chinese Medicine is also very applicable to Zen Shiatsu practice. The instructor, Lok Kwan Cheng, is a Shiatsu practitioner and a practitioner of acupuncture and Chinese herbology, and has devised a curriculum that best serves the needs of Shiatsu practice.

Chinese Medicine - ABT Exam Prep, prepares students for the National Board Certification Exam for Asian Bodywork Therapy (ABT).  Those who pass this exam earn the title Diplomate of Asian Bodywork Therapy.

The exam is adminstered by the NCCAOM, the same board that certifies Acupuncturists and Herbalists. In the years ahead, this exam is likely to become mandatory for professional practice of shiatsu. Consequently, we are preparing our students well in advance through this ABT Exam Prep Course. Any gaps in your knowledge as it relates to this exam will be made clear, so that you will know what to study if you wish to take this exam voluntarily, or if it becomes mandatory in the years ahead.

This class is open only to students enrolled in our complete Shiatsu Certification Program.
