Chinese Medicine : Points and Channels
A 12-hour course
Zen Shiatsu grows out of the ancient intellectual traditions of Chinese Medicine, and the practice of acupuncture and herbalism.
In our 96-hour Chinese Medicine curriculum, we do an in-depth study of these traditions, to understand the place of Zen Shiatsu within the greater context of Chinese Medicine and learn to communicate fluently with other professionals in the field.
The study of Chinese Medicine is also very applicable to Zen Shiatsu practice. The instructor, Lok Kwan Cheng, is a Shiatsu practitioner and a practitioner of acupuncture and Chinese herbology, and has devised a curriculum that best serves the needs of Shiatsu practice.
Chinese Medicine III compares and contrasts point and channel theory in Chinese Medicine and Zen Shiatsu. The systems of point classification and treatment strategies from Chinese Medicine will be introduced and covered in detail.
Students will be left with a comprehensive map of the Chinese Medicine understanding of the meridian system, and how it relates to Zen Shiatsu practice.
Topics Include:
• Twelve Regular Channels
• Extraordinary Vessels
• Connecting Vessels
• Five Element Points
• Connecting Points
This class is open only to students enrolled in our complete Shiatsu Certification Program.
