Zen Shiatsu grows out of the ancient intellectual traditions of Chinese Medicine, and the practice of acupuncture and herbalism.

In our 96-hour Chinese Medicine curriculum, we do an in-depth study of these traditions, to understand the place of Zen Shiatsu within the greater context of Chinese Medicine and learn to communicate fluently with other professionals in the field.

The study of Chinese Medicine is also very applicable to Zen Shiatsu practice. The instructor, Lok Kwan Cheng, is a Shiatsu practitioner and a practitioner of acupuncture and Chinese herbology, and has devised a curriculum that best serves the needs of Shiatsu practice.

Chinese Medicine II focuses on the Zang/Fu Organ Networks of Chinese medicine. In this class, you will get a grasp of properly working physiology, from a Chinese viewpoint. Internal medicine and the interrelation of organ networks will be covered in detail. These understandings will give you a context from which to later understand pathology and diagnostic methods.
