- Fast-Track Certification for Massage Therapists
At Zen Shiatsu Chicago, we offer a 625-Hour Professional Asian Bodywork curriculum that qualifies students for national certification as an Asian Bodywork Therapist (ABT), the appropriate credential for professional practice in Illinois.
Our curriculum includes over 260 hours of Zen Shiatsu technique, 120 hours of Chinese Medicine and Oriental Diagnosis, 110 hours of Anatomy and Physiology, 84 hours of supervised student clinic, as well as business, ethics, and CPR courses.
Graduates of our program are eligible for professional practice at our clinic in Evanston. Many graduates also choose to begin their own private practice, or affiliate themselves with clinical facilities.
Classes are offered in the evenings, or in weekend intensive format. Our program is very modular, allowing students to pay for and take only the courses they are ready for, as their schedule and personal development allows. The entire program may be completed in approximately two years. Our school and private session center offer students a wonderful way to incorporate study and professional practice into their lives gradually.
Financial aid is available in the form of the Sallie Mae Career Training Loan, which provides students with the options of up to 15 years of financing, and deferment of payment until after graduation, if desired. Also, our workstudy program allows students to earn credit towards up to one half the cost of most classes. Please call our office to learn more.
We hope you will find Zen Shiatsu to be an enriching study, that helps you bring peace to yourself and others.

What are the benefits of certification?
Your image benefits from the credentials of Asian Bodywork certification. Shiatsu is very different from massage, with its own board examination, and certification indicates that you have an expert-level grounding in Chinese Medicine and Shiatsu applications. You will have access to the peer support and intellectual network of the AOBTA (American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia), and will be recognized as a fully-trained professional.
